Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using Lalela, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Eligibility and accounts

Lalela is an adults-only service for people aged 18 or older. You must be at least 18 to register for or use Lalela. The service is not directed to children, and people under 18 may not create an account or use the service, including with a parent or guardian’s permission.

You must be able to form a legally binding agreement to use Lalela. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your account credentials secure.

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

Acceptable use

Lalela is a community platform for neighbourhood communication, safety, marketplace listings, and local coordination. It is not a dating or sexual-relationship matching service. Do not use Lalela to solicit or arrange dates, hookups, or sexual services.

• No harassment, hate speech, threats, or discrimination
• No fraudulent listings, scams, or misleading marketplace content
• No sharing of others’ personal information without consent
• No public sharing of nudity or sexually explicit material in community posts, profiles, notices, events, listings, business content, images, videos, or attachments
• No public sharing of graphic real-world violence outside a genuine newsworthy or community-safety context. Any such material must be necessary to that context, clearly explained, and proportionate; do not glorify, encourage, or sensationalize violence
• No illegal content or activity, including emergency-system abuse or false reports

User content and community moderation

You retain ownership of content you submit, but you grant Lalela a licence to host and display it to people who have access to the relevant community so the service can function. You are responsible for ensuring your content follows these terms and the rules of your community.

Use the in-app reporting controls to report an account or content to the community moderation team. Authorized community administrators and moderators may review reports and may remove or restrict access to violating content where available, or restrict or suspend accounts. Reports are reviewed; submitting a report does not guarantee a particular outcome or response time.

You may block another member. Blocking prevents direct messages and new direct conversations between the two accounts; it does not remove the member’s posts or other content from a community feed. You can manage blocked accounts in the app’s security settings.

If you invite people to a community as an administrator or moderator, invite only people you know personally who would reasonably expect an invitation to that community, and use the optional contact check only for people you intend to invite. Do not use invitations for advertising, bulk or unsolicited messaging, or to contact someone who has asked not to be invited. When you invite someone, you share their chosen email address or phone number with Lalela only for that invitation, as described in the Privacy Policy. SMS and WhatsApp invitations are sent from your own device and account, and any network or messaging charges are yours.

Purchases, memberships, and refunds

Lalela offers paid digital services such as annual memberships and community setup and renewal. These purchases are made through Apple In-App Purchase on iOS or Google Play Billing on Android. Lalela does not accept payment for these digital services on the web.

Store purchases are subject to Apple’s or Google Play’s refund process and applicable law. Contact support@lalela.net for help with purchase access or account entitlement issues.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access for accounts that violate these terms, community guidelines, or applicable law. You may delete your account at any time from within the app.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Lalela is provided "as is". Emergency and security features are community-coordination tools and are not a substitute for official emergency services — always contact local emergency services directly in a life-threatening situation.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lalela is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the app.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
